The ADL needed by each consumer will vary according to the individual’s particular needs.  Your Case Manager will develop and review your individual Comprehensive Plan of Care (CPOC).  The CPOC details your needs, how those needs will be met, the activities needed to meet those needs and who will perform each task.

You may be eligible to receive up to 56 hours per week of PCA services depending on your program eligibility and needs status. (Please note that some programs require the need for a minimum of 14 hours of PCA services per week.)  Your CPOC will state how many hours of PA services you are eligible to receive and when.  Therefore, it is important for you to consider at times the assistance.  If you require a personal assistant for different times throughout the day it may be helpful to select more than one person.  This eliminates the problem of one person working too many hours or perhaps performing too many tasks.  This is also useful in an emergency; when one personal assistant is unable to work, you might be able to call on the other PCA.
